The attacker has scored 5 strikes in 10 La Liga outings during the current campaign.

The Madrid giants winger Vinicius Jr has apologised to the fanbase for his response when replaced in Sunday's heated match against Barcelona win.

He was replaced in the 72nd min and expressed his annoyance by heading directly to the dressing room.

He eventually reappeared to the dugout and, following his team's 2-1 win, sought to engage the opposition's Lamine Yamal during unsavoury after the game exchanges.

"This day I want to apologise to all the Madridistas for my reaction when I was replaced in the derby," he wrote on X.

"Similarly to I have already done during the latest training, I also want to apologise again to my teammates, the club, and the president.

"Occasionally passion gets the better of me because I constantly desire to win and support my side. My determined nature comes from the affection I feel for this club and everything it stands for."

The player moved to the Spanish capital from Flamengo in 2018 for a significant fee and has notched over a century of strikes in 335 appearances.

But his career in the La Liga is unclear with rumors in recent months suggesting that the club would think about allowing the player move on if they were to receive a suitable offer.

When he was replaced on Sunday, TV coverage from broadcaster the service picked him up remarking: "Always me! I'm departing the side! It's preferable if I leave, I'm moving on."

In his latest post on social media, he said: "I promise to keep fighting every second for the benefit of Los Blancos, as I have performed since the very beginning."
