Diving into an Unusual Steam Game Trial: Guiding a Turdy Character with the Goal to Reach the Toilet
Steam Next Fest is in full swing, and gamers have encountered plenty of entertaining independent titles. However, one catches the eye for its quirky concept. Called Unko Technica, this retro-inspired platformer features a protagonist that is actually a dung striving to travel to a toilet. As a fun fact, "Unko" translates to "poop."
Player controls is straightforward: just use a jump control. Across one hundred fifty challenges, you'll face boss fights and visit a store to purchase outfits for your poop character.
Time your actions with caution, since one mistake forces restarting the level. Leap off air pockets to launch yourself to new heights, cross fragile ledges, and activate triggers to open secret routes. Earn coins and use them on tougher game content in which things ramps up.
Visually, the demo shows off eye-catching environments and an amazing background music. Its minimalist graphics featuring moving geometric shapes evokes memories of players of beloved games like Earthbound.
Even though tough to think of similar titles where you are a piece of feces, video games frequently featured toilet humor. For example, in Death Stranding, players craft throwables from character excrement. Games like Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved utilize dung as fertilizer. And of course, this theme appears extensively in Obsidian's South Park RPG The Stick of Truth.
Regardless of its humorous premise, Unko Technica has already received impressive awards, including winning at a major publisher's GYAAR Studio in 2023. The demo is ready now on Steam, with the full game planned to launch on PC on November 19.
